Two Thai teenagers, arrested for robbery said they only robbed Burmese migrants to avenge their ancestors, according to Manager Online, quoting police sources.

On May 5, police in Sadao, Songkla province, southern Thailand, arrested two Thai youth: Usaman Hmadsaela (20) and Adinand Khayandee (18) on robbery charges.

During the interrogation, the two confessed that they had robbed 20 times, but they only robbed Burmese people, because they felt bitter towards them. Hundreds of years ago, the Burmese used to attack and ravage Ayutthaya, the former capital.

The Burmese migrants, after being robbed, were afraid to report to the local police because some of them had no work permits. They would instead move into the city to find safer places.

The two of them and 13 other robbers had also robbed and raped Burmese women workers in a rubber plantation in Sadao. After they got money from selling the things they robbed such as motorcycles and mobile phones, they said they bought drugs.

The police are still looking for the other 13 robbers.

Ancient kingdoms that became Burma and Thailand had fought against each other for some 300 years, from the 16th to the 19th century.
