Junta’s meeting with Three Brotherhood Alliance May Impact Spring Revolution

Political experts informed the Than Lwin Times that the recent meeting between the Military Council's National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) and the Three Brotherhood Alliance and mediation from China, could affect the Spring Revolution.

Political analyst U Than Soe Naing concluded that this meeting is taking place at a time when revolutionary forces have been gaining ground. “He claims that “ China's involvement in Myanmar politics exceeds appropriate levels. Their cooperation with the Military Council and support for its continued rule goes against the will of the people. And this meeting could pose a significant obstacle to the Spring Revolution.”

Mr. Guo Bao, the Foreign Special Envoy from China's Yunnan Province, will be present as the Chinese representative to ensure the successful culmination of the negotiations.

U Than Soe Naing suggests “ it is now the time for democratic forces, including the United States and Western European countries, to increase their efforts and offer essential support to counter China's involvement in resolving the issue in Myanmar.

As per China's mediation, representatives from the Three Brotherhood Alliance, including the Arakan Army (AA), Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), and Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), will convene with representatives of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) of the Military Council for discussions scheduled from June 1st to 3rd.

As of May 31, the Military Council has not made any official announcement regarding the meeting between the Three Brotherhood Alliance and the NSPNC.

According to Dr. Hla Kyaw Zaw, a specialist in Chinese affairs, the dialogue between the Three Brotherhood Alliance and the Military Council could potentially impact the revolution ."As ethnic armed organizations, they possess the ability to convey their messages effectively via China.

This gives them a strong advantage as resistance groups. However it may harm their comrades involved in the armed revolution locally. Given that Since China is pushing for peace talks, I expect reduced support from some EAOs towards those who joined the CDM and the PDF of the Spring Revolution."

U Nay Phone Latt, spokesperson for the National Unity Government (NUG) Prime Minister's Office, informed the Than Lwin Times that the meeting could be a result of external pressure or influence.

"Perhaps their meeting is a result of certain circumstances or pressures. We need to monitor the reasons behind their meeting, the nature of their discussions, and the agreements they may reach. Without knowledge of these specifics, it is difficult for us to provide any comments."

On January 1, the Three Brotherhood Alliance declared their ongoing collaboration with several revolutionary organizations. This collaboration involves providing military training and supplying weapons and ammunition to the People's Defense Forces (PDF), who are actively resisting the Military Council.

On the other hand, in the second week of March the Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee (FPNCC), which includes the Three Brotherhood Alliance, made an announcement expressing its support and appreciation for China's intervention in facilitating the resolution of internal conflicts within Myanmar.
