8 Military Council Soldiers Killed and 1 Captured in Violent Clash on Road to Dawngaykhu Village from Bawlakhe

Yesterday afternoon (April 19th), the 80th Infantry Battalion of the Military Council was on its way to deliver rations from Bawlakhe to Dawngaykhu village when they got into a skirmish with the Karenni Army (KA) and Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) in the eastern part of Demoso Township.

According to Minister Khu Nyeh Reh of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Karenni State Government, eight Military Council soldiers were killed, and one was captured alive during the conflict. The Minister shared this information with Kantarawaddy Times.

"Between Bawlakhe and Dawngaykhu, they sent rations. There they stepped on landmines. The car ran over a landmine and then the car overturned. And then the fighting continued. 8 soldiers of the Military Council were killed. One was captured alive. We got 6 weapons. They were to send rations to Dawngaykhu. They came from Bawlakhe," Minister Khu Nyeh Reh said.

In addition, it was reported that during the skirmish, the Karenni Army (KA) and Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) were able to destroy a military vehicle in which the Military Council soldiers were riding. They also seized six weapons and some ammunition.

Currently, the Military Council's troops are still stationed in Dawtamagyi village-tract, situated in the eastern region of Demoso township. Between April 16th and 18th, a conflict broke out near Dawngaykhu village, which led to the Military Council launching airstrikes and firing a significant number of artillery shells.

According to reports, approximately 30 soldiers from the Military Council were killed during the two-day battle, while one comrade from the Karenni Army (KA) was also reported to have died. The conflict in the eastern part of Demoso continues, as the Military Council troops have been conducting combat operations since the beginning of March, resulting in casualties on both sides.
