Military council bans transport of food, medical supplies in Palaw Township

The military council has further banned the transportation of food and medicine to the villages in Tanintharyi Region’s Palaw Township, the residents and officials of Palaw Public Administration told Than Lwin Times.

After the declaration of martial law in Palaw Township, the military council stopped allowing the transportation of food and medicine, including rice, from Palaw to the villages, and began to forcefully inspect and confiscate the items.

The move came after the military council banned the transportation of fuel in Palaw township starting from the third week of February.

The military regime has started oppressing the people by applying the four-cut strategy in the areas controlled by the Karen National Union (KNU) and the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs), according to an official of the Palaw Public Administration.

The prices of fuel, food, and medicine in the villages of Palaw Township have almost doubled over the restrictions imposed by the junta.

Since the declaration of martial law in Palaw Township on February 2, the junta troops have invaded the areas controlled by the PDF and Kawthoolei Army (KTLA), including Kade, Thingandon, and To villages, and at least seven battles have occurred, causing injuries and casualties on both sides.

Meanwhile, the regime troops burned down nearly 200 local homes, and at least three civilians were killed and more than 10 injured in the junta’s artillery attack.
