Two soldiers were killed when they stepped on their own landmine near the Yae Kin camp of the Military Council in Tima village, Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State, according to reliable sources.
An eyewitness said that a landmine exploded near the Yae Kin Camp fence in Tinma Village at around 9:00 a.m. on February 16, killing 2 soldiers.
“A landmine exploded near the Yae Kin camp fence. 2 soldiers died. One of them died inside
Tinma camp. I think there are also some people who suffered injuries,” he said.
A local resident said, "Yae Kin Camp is a fenced area under Tinma Taung Shay mountain. That fence is at the border of the village and Yae Kin Camp. There was a landmine explosion there.
Not only their people, but all the people nearby could hear it. The Navy was also there. I think they changed their duties. I think it was a landmine planted by the previous soldiers. An eyewitness called me and told me that 2 people died." he said.
Tinma village is a village well-known for the disappearance of about 20 villagers after a Myanmar military column abducted 8 villagers from Tinma Thit village in March 2020, and abducted 10 villagers from Tinma Gyi village on March 16.
