Regime troops in arson attack on Namhsan township - Shan state

The Military Council troops burned down five houses and a monastery refectory in Kone Thar village, Namhsan township in northern Shan state.

After heavy fighting with the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) on December 10th, the Military Council carried out airstrikes, and burned down religious and residential buildings at night.

“Five houses were burnt down in Kone Thar village. Artillery units were fired into the village, and warplanes were also seen flying overhead. The refectory of the monastery in Kone Thar was also set ablaze, ” a TNLA comrade told the Shan Herald.

As of December 12th there has been a tense situation in the region where the Military Council's planes were flying over the TNLA base every half-hour.

This NLA member added, “No more clashes yet, but their planes fly about once every half hour. Their soldiers are trapped inside Kone Thar village. Perhaps thet’re seeking an opportunity to evacuate their men. The military situation is still tense here”.

The Military Council launched an offensive against the TNLA on December 7th using air raids. After these aerial attacks the fighting intensified, causing more than 600 locals to flee to the monastery in Namhsan.
