KIA, PDF Attack Junta Columns In Sagaing

Resistance forces killed twenty Burma Army (BA) soldiers in two days of fighting in Indaw Township in Sagaing Region, according to the Indaw People’s Defence Force (PDF), which is fighting alongside the Kachin Independence Army (KIA).

“The first clash occurred on 13 November near Nam Makyeing when about 100 BA soldiers entered our minefield on their way to Indaw town,” a PDF officer said. The Kachin armed groups fired at the junta fighters after triggering their remote-controlled minefield, the officer said. “Three BA soldiers were killed on the spot and many others were seriously injured” during the hour long clash and one regime soldier later died in the hospital in Katha.

According to locals, four BA were buried next to Nam Kyeing and at least five were seriously wounded in the ambush.

The next day, the KIA and the PDF ambushed another column of 80 soldiers near Kam Ni in the evening when they boarded a truck, killing and injuring many of them.

“The dead and injured were taken to Indaw Hospital without receiving prior treatment by nurses and then to their military base in the town,” the officer said. Only 60 soldiers remained in the column and no KIA or PDF fighters were killed that day, he added. However, the KNG couldn’t independently determine the numbers of casualties during clashes.

Both BA military columns returned to Indaw after the ambushes.
