Nasaka outpost number 4, in Ngar Khuya village tract, was mostly affected in northern Arakan.
The authorities of Nasaka area No. 4, ordered the nearby villagers to work on the road site from morning to evening without any wages. The villagers have to cut the trees and remove it from the road in Ngar Khuya, Gyikan Pyin village tracts and reconstruct the roads, said a villager of Ngar Khura Village of Maungdaw Township.
Most of the villagers from Ngar Khuya village tract have no shelters because of heavy winds tearing off roofs of houses. But, the villagers have to give priority to do work on the road site and not to do work in their homes, said a victim of the cyclone.
"The ruling junta is mobilizing the people of Shewza Village tract for the referendum when the situation in Burma is critical after cyclone Nargis," said a village leader of Shewza village.
The international media has announced that in Burma , the death toll from the cyclone has risen to more than 22,000 and over 41,000 people are missing, quoting State owned TV in Burma .
The cyclone Nargis hit the Irrawady and Rangoon divisions on May 3 and turned towards Northern Arakan on May 5.
Today, a team from the Bangladesh Army led by Brig-General Taslim Uddin Khan is going to Burma to help in rescuing people who have been missing following cyclone "Nargis" on May 3.
The team will hand over relief goods such as- potatoes, medicines, oral saline, water purified tablets, Saris, Burmese Tami, Longyi, trousers among other relief material.
