Lay Kay Kaw refugee camp by Thaung Yin River requires assistance

As fighting between the Myanmar Army and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) continues in Lay Kay Kaw, Myawaddy district, many people have fled the fighting and are in need of help at a refugee camp by the Thaung Yin River.

There are more than 500 people in the area and food, warm clothes, blankets and shelters are especially needed.

‘On the day the fighting started, I was living in the forest near the village. Later, I lived in Mae Wah Khi. The next day, as the sound of heavy artillery approached, I had to live near the Thaung Yin River,” said a local woman in Lay Kay Kaw Myothit.

Residents of Mae War Khi and Phalu villages in Lay Kay Kaw Myothit are also fleeing the war near the Thaung Yin River on the Thai border.
