Yesterday evening, three motorcycle rickshaws and a car loaded with government casualties (dead and injured) from the battle field, arrived at the town of Waingmaw, said eyewitnesses.

Eyewitnesses said the fighting occurred at Lung Zep Kawng, near Ga Ra Yang Village, in Waingmaw Township, between Burmese troops from the Shwe Nyaung Pyin (Waingmaw)-based Light Infantry Battalion No. 321 and the KIA’s Battalion 3.

Fighting took place for several hours there, after two military trucks with dozens of government troops were also bombed on the road near the village, by the KIA, local villagers said.

KIA officers in the Laiza headquarters, eastern Kachin State, confirmed the second day fighting started early this morning in that area.

Officers in Laiza said there were no KIA casualties.
