Maungdaw, Arakan State: A white elephant was seen near mountain area of Haati Para of Lounddon village and Kyein Chaung village in Maungdaw north on September 11, said a village administration member from Lounddon village.

“The firewood collectors from Lounddon village had seen the white elephant with a group black elephant in the mountain area yesterday morning.”

“The villagers informed us about the white elephant than we had informed to the concerned authority to take action.”

The Maungdaw District Administration officer, Township Administration officer, Burma border security force (Nasaka) director and other Maungdaw Township officers had visited the site on the evening of yesterday after getting the white elephant, said an officer from District Administration office.

“The officers had moved as possible as near the white elephant and record with video cam.”

The officers ordered the Administration officer of Lounddon village and Kyein Chaung village to watch the white elephant with villagers, according to a villager of Lunddon village.

“More than two hundred villagers surround the elephant group without noisy to keep at the place where the elephant are staying.”

“Kyaw Than Nu, the Maungdaw forest department officer, led the villagers and taking responsibility to keep white elephant in the place until further order come to process.”

“We don’t know, how many days to watch the elephant,” said a day labor who is only supporter for his family.

The District Administration office will send the video clips of white elephant to the high level officer for further information to process for white elephant.
