Though the SAC (State Administrative Council) Council released some detainees from Kyaikmaraw Prison on June 30, none of the students from Mawlamyine University and the Technological University in Mon State included.
The Military Council detained continuously the students from the Mawlamyine University who were arrested during the anti-dictatorship protests, at the Kyaikmaraw Prison according to the Mawlamyine Student Union’s Chairman Min Thanzin Oo.
“We do not think that many will be released. It means that we do not think of released many. We do not know others. None of the students were released. I am really upset about it. There are no thanks to the Military that is releasing the innocent people who are detained”, said Min Thanzin oo.
The Mawlamyine Student Union is conducting the list of the detained students again according to the circumstances and they will announce the exact list of the detainees soon.
"We did a list before. Now, we have fled to a safe place and those documents are left in a safe place. It is not by name. We will announce how many females and male, which township and major”, he said.
There are 400 detained students in Mon State and nine from Kyaikmaraw Prison and 19 from Thaton Prison were released on June 30.
