Teknaf, Bangladesh: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested eighteen Rohingya at the border and pushed back them to Burma on July 31, said a local village member from Teknaf.

“The BGB arrested the Rohingya while they were entering Bangladesh through the illegal point of Shapuri Dip of Teknaf Police Station.”

“The arrested all hail from Maungdaw townships.”

The operation was led by BGB Officer Masuk Meah from Shapuri Dip Border Out-post under Teknaf Battalion 42, according to official sources. “BGB pushed them back to Burma through the Shapuri Dip entry point.”

“Of them, BGB arrested 12 males, 3 women and 3 children during the raid.”

A local said that they came to Bangladesh from Arakan State, Burma, hoping for better treatment in Bangladesh.

“In Arakan State, there is no opportunity for the Rohingya people because of the health crisis, restrictions on movement, etc.”

Lt. Col. Mohammed Jahed Hasan from Teknaf Battalion No. 42 confirmed that the arrested were pushed back to Burma on July 31 at 10 am.
