Burmese arrested for stealing good worth one million rupees

A Burmese national, who stole goods worth over Rs. 1 million after breaking into two big shops in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, northeast India was arrested on 25 June.

The thief was identified as Lalzamliana (26) son of Ropianga from Falam town, Chin state, Burma. The police arrested him in Lunglawn block of Lunglei town, second capital of Mizoram along with the items.

The clothing shop owner the P & D Clothing store of Zion Street on 21 May and the owner of Zodi Shoe store on 19 June filed a complaint with the police regarding the theft of Rs. 1,64,600 and Rs. 1,00,1350 worth of goods respectively.

The police arrested Lalzamliana in Lungrawn block with 13 items, three packs of clothing, 20 women’s clothings and 63 pairs of shoes following a tip off on 25 June.

It is learnt that Lalzamliana stole the items from the roadside shops of Aizawl.

Earlier the robber was arrested in Taisi block of Lunglei after he bound a person in a room of a residence but was released by the police after being jailed for several months in Lunglei district, Mizoram. Khonumthung News
