Drunken brawl kills one in Chin state capital

A 46-year old man was allegedly murdered by four local people in Hakha, the capital of Chin state, Burma on May 9.

Hakha-town-300x200Nyi Nyi Htwe of Kan village, Kankaw township of Magwe division had come to the capital to get a job on May 8. He was killed the next day.

“The group was inebriated. The four killed him. The victim was found the next morning on the road. He was not dead when we saw him but he was unable to speak. He died after being admitted to the civil hospital,” said an eyewitness from Hakha.

Local police arrested Boia from Thantlang town 20 miles from Hakha. He was suspected to be one of the four killers. The three others escaped to Mizoram state, in northeast India. Seven suspects were being detained for investigation in Hakha police station.

In a similar manner, Thautlei, a matriculation student from Satu village, Matupi Town ship, Chin state was killed in a drunken brawl on 14 March 2011.- Khonumthung News
