Cox’s Bazaar, Bangladesh: A Rakhine singer died during a concert at a Bangle New Year festival on April 15, while he was singing in celebration of Pohela Boishakh (Bangle New Year), said an elder from his locality.
Aung Kyaw Zan (30), the singer, hailed from a Rakhine village in Aziz Nagor Upazila in Cox’s Bazaar District. His native village is Akyab (Sitwee), the capital of Arakan State.
On that day, Kyaw Zan went to Aziz Nagor Government Primary School to participate in the celebration of Bangladeshi New Year. He was a singer as well as a player of musical instruments at the celebration site. While playing the instruments, he unfortunately became unconscious, said a participant in the function.
After the event, he was immediately brought to the government hospital of Chakoria for medical treatment. Later, the doctor declared him dead.
“Kyaw Zan goes to different local places across the country and plays musical instruments and sings songs.”
According to sources, he died at about 6 pm. He was on the stage playing instruments the entire day before his death.
