A number of gun battles have recently broken out between the KNU and the combined Burmese Army and Border Guard Force (BGF) in Pai Kyon Township in Karen State. According to KNU news sources, a number of Burmese Army and BGF soldiers have been killed.
 
KNU Battalion no. 22 and the combined forces of Burmese Army LIB 357 and BGF Battalion no. 1016 had a gun battle near Mae Lak Arkhe and Say Phoekhe villages around 5:30 p.m. on 26 March. According to the KNLA’s news sources, five soldiers from the Burmese Army were killed and two soldiers received injuries. In addition, one BGF soldier was hurt.
 
The KNU forces ambushed the forces of Burmese Army LIB 546 and 357 and BGF Battalion no. 1016 on 25 March. Several Burmese Army soldiers, including the battalion commander, were injured in the attack. The combined forces were re-attacked by the KNLA when they attempted to transport their wounded soldiers to their headquarters.
 
The vehicle that carried the injured Burmese commander escaped the attack, but the other military vehicle was hit. According to eyewitnesses, the later vehicle was damaged.
 
According to KNU news sources, although several Burmese Army soldiers were killed or injured, nobody from the KNLA forces was hurt in the attacks of 25–26 March.
 
Burmese Army battalions under Brigade 22 and MOC 12 and BGF Battalion no. 1016 led by Maj. Saw Myat Khaing, along with Karen battalions under KNU Brigade no. 7, continue to patrol in the area of Pai Kyon Township in Karen State.
