2020 Naga New Year Festival held in Lahe township

President U Win Myint was the chief guest at the 2020 Naga New Year Festival which was held in Lahe township of Naga Self-Administered Zone in Sagaing Region of Myanmar on 14-15 January 2020.

Sagaing Region Chief Minister, Union Ministers, Parliamentarians, Naga leaders, military commanders were among others participated in the festival. Many foreigners also joined this colourful event.

This festival is one of the rarest celebrations in Myanmar and the festival rotates from one Naga town to the other (Leshi, Lahe and Nanyun, Sagaing Region). More than 49 different clans dressed in their distinctive traditional clothes gather to welcome the New Year.

It includes traditional dances and music of various Naga groups, the traditional sports competitions such as wrestling and cutting the log.
