Aung Kaung Zaw — Land has been designated for construction of government offices in Lay Taung Town, Ramree Township in Arakan State.
A pristine piece of land on the east side of War Kyein Pyin Pagoda has been chosen for construction of government offices and the offices of the General Administration Department and the Fire Services Department will be built first, according to the construction committee.
“A land plot owned by Ashae Phat Hmaw Village on the east side of War Kyein Pyin Pagoda has been selected for the construction of government offices. The township administrator and officials from the Department of Agricultural Land Management and Statistics have already made a field trip to the project site to inspect the “on-ground” situation. The chosen site has been designated as virgin land,” said U Aung Naing Tun, Secretary of the construction committee.
It is estimated that a total of 12 acres of land will be required to construct government offices and the chosen site is believed to be more than 10 acres.
He said he didn’t know exactly whether farmland near the project area will be added to the chosen site.
“The project area for the construction of government offices includes over 10 acres of virgin land. But the farmlands owned by local residents near the project area are yet to be demarcated. I don’t know exactly whether farmland will be included in the project area or not. Officials from the local government said they don’t want farmland,” he added.
The Lay Taung administrative unit was promoted to a town-level in September this year and 14 villages in the administrative unit were drawn into five wards. The land plot for construction of government offices is located in Ward-2, sharing a border with Kun Eain, Ashae Phat Hmaw and Ywa Htet Villages.
