“Nearly 460 chicken carcasses were found in Singai, 270 in Zongte 400 in Thipcang and 20 in Hnahthial village, for instance, but the reason behind the deaths is not yet known. It may be because of bird flu or some ordinary disease,” said a local.
The villagers in Falam township are worried and reported the chicken deaths to a veterinary doctor in Falam town, but he refused to help.
“We don’t know why our chickens are dying. So we went to Falam town and asked a vet to help us, but he refused to do so, because he said that ‘he will not profit by helping us’ and he did not provide us even vaccine,” he added.
