15 February 2011: In the assembly session held yesterday, a representative each of two Chin parties were appointed ministers in the state by Mr Hung Ngai, recently nominated the Prime Minister of Chin State.
Two members of the Chin Progressive Party (CPP) and Chin National Party (CNP) were appointed ministers of Chin State, Burma among nine elected, mostly from the Union Solidarity and Development Party and Burmese Army representatives.
Mr. Ram Mang, a representative of CNP elected from Hakha township constituency and Mr. Kyaw Ngein, member of CPP, elected from Paletwa township constituency, were appointed Chin State ministers.
It is learnt that Mr. Kui Thang has not completed 35 years from Kanpetlet Township and member of the USDP was also among the nine ministers. On this 11 Chin party representatives have sent a note of protest to the President.
The 2008 constitution of the State Peace and Development Council says in Chapter 261 (a) (i) that state and division ministers must have attained the age of 35 years.
It is hoped that army representatives will be posted in security and border affairs. USDP members will be appointed in prominent and important departments among their seven ministries of Chin state.
