The Chin State head of the Health Department ignored a report from Thantlang Township health personnel to take action against an officer for cutting staff salary. The head allegedly received Kyat 2 lakhs to remain silent and overlook a case of misappropriation of money of the township health department in Chin State, Burma.
“Mr. Tet Htun Nweh, head of township health department of Thantlang town had cut off a month’s salary of the staff because of their absence during a departmental meeting. But the State’s head of the Health Department did not care to action against personnel involved in corruption, said a staff from Than Tlang.
“No action was taken in a case of corruption, because the State head of the Health Department received two lahk Kyats to suppress the case,” said a department personnel.
The State head of the Health Department received Kyat 2 lakhs in Than Tlang town, when he was visiting the department and Tet Htun Nweh also collected Kyat 3 lahks for the head’s reception in December last year.
“Tet Htun Nweh pleaded for ignoring the case of corruption to the head the State Health Department and tried to please him by collecting money for his reception. He collected more money than the bribe given,” a health staff said.
Meanwhile, fieldworkers of Chin state had their salaries cut by the authorities for not doing fieldwork and staying in the town.
