Kyauk Pru: Authorities from the Union Solidarity Development Party have constructed shops and buildings on a school ground in a village of Kyauk Pru Township in order to raise funds through rent on the buildings, according to villagers who wrote of the issue to high authorities.
An educated villager said, "Our village chairman, U Tin Maung, has constructed shops and buildings on the school grounds to rent for USDP funds, despite that the ground does not belong to the USDP or the government."
The school ground, which is a broad 21.43 acres, was donated by the landowner, U Pru Thi, in 1971 for building a school, playground, and village garden in Sa Nae Village in Kyauk Pru Township.
"The land is still listed under U Pru Thi's name as Plot No. 580 and Possession No. 40 in the survey department records, but the USDP is using the land for it's own benefit by constructing buildings. Two school buildings, a garden, and a playground were already built on the land. Now the USDP authority has constructed shops and buildings on the grounds. Our children have lost their opportunity to play there since the USDP put up the buildings," he said.
Villagers in Sa Nae Village sent a complaint letter to Kyauk Pru Township USDP secretary, U Than Aye, requesting the buildings be removed from the school grounds, but they have yet to receive a response.
"We sent a complaint letter to U Than Aye, Secretary of Kyauk Pru Township USDP, to cancel the project because the land is owned by the school in the village, but we have not yet received any response," he added.
The villagers also sent a copy of the complaint letter to the Prime Minister, Minister of Education, and the General Secretary of the Arakan State USDP.
The villager said, "We have no other ways to solve the problem because the high authority has neglected our appeal about the construction buildings on the school grounds. Because of this, we transferred the letter to you to undertake in your way as much as you can."
The USDP in Arakan State is still trying to monopolize as much power as possible in Arakan, especially in business sectors, in order to gain profits for the own interests.
