That USDP candidates made promises during the November 7, 2010 elections they never meant to keep is becoming increasingly obvious. People in Chin State, western Burma are visibly disappointed because the junta-backed political party has not kept the poll promises it had made, so far.
Dr. Rouk, USDP candidate, who was elected to the Parliament in the election had made tall promises to the electorate to provide water pipes, but has failed to do so, said a local in Satu village, Matupi township.
“Our village heads had gone to him to follow up on the politician’s promise to get the water pipe lines laid in the first week of December. The MP did not entertain them and told our village heads to go to Pu Vancin, the candidate of the ENDP. It was very disappointing,” he said.
It may be recalled that villagers in Satu, Pamai, and Pasin had decided to vote for the USDP in order to have the water pipes laid. They cast votes for the USDP in the last election believing the promises made by the regime-backed party not suspecting that the party may go back on the poll promise.
The agreement was reached between candidates of the ENDP for the National Parliament and the people as well as the USDP candidate for People’s Parliament and the villagers in Matupi township. However, the candidate of the CPP for National Parliament and the candidate of the USDP for People’s Parliament won the election.
“This going back on poll promises is a kind of experience which makes people aware for the future,” said a leader of the Ethnic Democracy Force Party. – Khonumthung News.
