Arakan Army (AA) and government military troops were fighting fiercely in Rakhine State and the AA said that the government military had used helicopters in attacking them.
People are fleeing from their homes and about 120 people from over 30 families left their homes in Meechaung Khoke and Awa villages in Puonnagyun Township to Saidin village in Buthidaung Township.
UN Humanitarian Assistance Coordination Office issued a news release which says there are about 600 IDPs (internally displaced persons) in Rakhine State because of fighting between the military and AA.
The AA issued a press statement which says the government used helicopters in a battle being fought on December 19.
The fighting between Tatmadaw and AA previously took place near Rakhine and Chin States border and then war theatre shifted south of this border and now they are fighting in December in Ponnagyun and Kyauktaw Township and now it is close to Rathedaung Township.
According to a report issued by the Myanmar Institute for Peace and Security (MIPS), 44 armed conflicts took place across the country in November this year alone and the number of these armed conflicts might increase in December because of more fighting between government troops and AA in December.
