A brief armed clash broke out between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Tatmadaw in KIA’s 9th Brigade controlled area, Tarmoenye in northern Shan State on 31 October, causing concerns among local residents.
A local resident told ‘KNG’ that the clash broke out around twelve noon at Namhui village in Tarmoenye area, which is under the control of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) 9th Brigade and it broke out while KIA soldiers having lunch at the village-head’s house the Tatmadaw combatants appeared and fired toward the KIA soldiers.
But, the armed-clash happened just a brief while, two KIA soldiers and one villager were injured, according to an unidentified officer from KIA 6th Brigade who told Kachin News Group(KNG).
The current armed clash occurred while a meeting was held between the three members of the Northern Alliance of Burma – the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), the Arakan Army (AA), and the Myanmar Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) – and Government’s Peace Commission in Kunming in China where KIO/KIA Chairman Gen N’Ban La was also attending the meeting as a witness.
