Cox’s Bazaar, Bangladesh: Bangladesh officials arrested 39 Burmese nationals on Sunday and Monday from various places and seized 837 Yaba tablets along the border, said a local.

The Bangladesh border security force (BDR) arrested seven Burmese nationals from Naitong Para  in Teknaf yesterday, while they were entering Bangladesh illegally in a row boat.

Among the seven arrested, six men and one woman were pushed back to Burma at around 8 pm, an official said.

Besides, the BDR arrested a Bangladeshi smuggler with 837 Yaba tablets from Dum Dum Meah check-post while checking vehicles on Cox’s Bazaar-Teknaf highway, said a local trader from Teknaf.

The smuggler was identified as the son of Tazul Haque of Balukhali village under Ukhiya police station in Cox’s Bazaar district.

Between Sunday and Monday, police personnel from Lama police station raided and arrested 32 Burmese nationals from various places along the Bangladesh border, said a local elder on condition of anonymity.

Police handed over some of the arrested to the BDR of Naikoncahri to push them back to Burma, and some were sent to jail.

The operation was led by Sub-Inspector Amit Boura.

A local elder told Kaladan Press, that Bangladesh authorities have started arresting Burmese nationals yet again.
