Eight Burmese nationals pushed back to Burma

Eight Burmese nationals including women were pushed back to Burma by Bangladesh Rifles (BDR)....

Ukhiya, Bangladesh: Eight Burmese nationals including women were pushed back to Burma by Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) on August 2, sources said.

They were arrested from a passenger vehicle by police personnel of Ukhiya police station while going to Chittagong.

The arrested were identified as Lal Meah (25), San Meah (30), Md. Salim (24), Nurul Amin (30), Abdul Gofur (28), Salima Khatun (55), Anowar Begum (45) and Hussain Ara Begum (25) belonging to Arakan State, Burma.

They crossed to Burma-Bangladesh border for treatment in Bangladesh as they cannot access proper treatment in Arakan State, said a local.

They were handed over to BDR to be pushed back to Burma by the police.

However, they were pushed back to Burma from the transit point of Balukhali by BDR the same day.

A local elder from Ukhiya said that the Bangladesh authorities have started arresting Rohingya people again recently.
