Teknaf, Cox’s Bazaar: Eight Bangladeshi fishermen including Rohingya fishermen have gone missing in the Naff River from June 26, according to sources.
On Friday midnight, the fishermen went to Naff River to catch fish in a row boat. They were fishing near Burma’s territorial waters.
Of them, three were Bangladeshi fishermen -- Abdullah, Mohamed Hashim and Meah Hussain of Teknaf union. The other five Rohingya fishermen have been not been identified yet. They are Rohignya refugees, said a fisherman from Teknaf.
A local said that the row boat went to Naff River to catch fish with eight fishermen. They did not return.
A fisherman believes that the row boat was abducted by Burma’s border security force (Nasaka) or capsized in the Naff River as the weather is not good in June.
He also said that frequently Nasaka personnel abduct row boats from the Naff River.
Fatema Khatun, wife of Abdullah said, “My husband went to Naff River to catch fish, he didn’t come back, now I don’t have information where he is.”
