After being closed for almost ten years, Falam Township authorities reopened the Rih-Falam border Road on November 16, according to our correspondent.
The Falam Township Union Solidarity and Development Association (USDA) took the initiative to reopen the 80-mile long Rih-Falam Road, which connects Falam and Rih bordering India.
A day after the road was thrown open three Jeeps owned by Van Hnuai Sawm, Aa Lian Pa, and Khaw Za Thang transported passengers from Falam to Rih. The fare from Falam to Rih for a passenger is Kyat 8,000 while it is Kyat 5,000 from Falam to Satawm.
The Rih-Falam Road has been used for many years and was closed by the military after the Chin National Army and Burmese Army clashed several times. The road was said to have been closed for security reasons.
Although the Burmese Army authorities officially closed the road for almost ten years, local car owners secretly plied vehicles from time to time. The local people are pleased with the authorities in Falam Township for reopening the Rih-Falam Road.
