Moe Kyaw — Pu Chin Sian Thang, chairman of Zomi Congress for Democracy, is leading over rival candidates for a Lower House seat in Tiddim, Chin State.
Although the Chin State Election Sub-Commission has not yet officially released results, Pu Chin Sian Thang has reportedly received over 15,000 votes for the seat in the riding that has about 40,000 eligible voters, according to ZCD General Secretary U Gim Kam Lian.
“Pu Chin Sian Thang is quite sure of securing the Lower House. He has received over 15,000 votes and other candidates didn’t even receive 10,000 votes,” U Gim Kam Lian said.
A total of six candidates including ZCD chairman were contesting the Tiddim seat.
The other candidates were: Dr. Vung Sun Thang, Union Solidarity and Development Party; U Do Suan Mung, National Unity Party; Daw Vung Suan Dim, Chin Progressive Party; U Shing Za Nang, Chin National Democratic Party; and Dr. Vuan Lian Thang, Chin League for Democracy.
The National League for Democracy didn’t contest the seat.
