New Delhi (Mizzima) - Goh Chok Tong, Singapore’s Senior Minister begins a four-day official visit to military-ruled Burma on Monday.

Goh Chok Tong will be visiting the new Burmese jungle capital of Naypyitaw, where he will be received by Prime Minister Gen Thein Sein. He will also call on Burmese military supremo Snr Gen Than Shwe, the Singapore Prime Minister’s office said in a statement.

Tong will also pay visits to Rangoon, Mandalay and Taunggyi to get a better perspective of the developments in other parts of the country.

The former Singapore Prime Minister will also attend the inauguration of the Kayin Chaung Station Hospital, which Singapore has built as part of its assistance to the post-Cyclone Nargis recovery programme in Burma.

He will be accompanied by Singapore’s Minister for Manpower Gan Kim Yong, Government Parliamentary Committee Chairman (Foreign Affairs and  Defence) Michael Palmer and senior officials.
