Three men arrested in Moulmein last night confessed to the murder of NMSP member, Nai Min Aung on April 18th. They were arrested around 8pm for firing shots illegally in the town and charged with the murder when police matched bullet casings from the scene with those recovered after Nai Min Aung was shot. The men then confessed to his murder during police questioning.

A NMSP officer said, “ they’d arrested the three men and that they were still looking for two others in connection with the murder although they did not tell us why. We cannot question them ourselves.”

According to the police, the men told them that the motive for the killing was a previous dispute they had had with Nai Min Aung.

“Even though they gave this reason for the murder, nobody knows for sure if it’s true or not,” commented the NMSP member.

The men were associate of Nai Aie Chan. IMNA reported yesterday that, according to NMSP sources, Nai Aie Chan was still a member of General Aung Naing’s splinter group, the Mon Peace and Defense Front (MPDF). However, subsequent senior sources within the NMSP insist that he has been expelled from the MPDF by General Aung Naing for indiscipline.
