New Delhi (Mizzima) - Despite the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine in the Gaza strip, the Burmese people studying and working in that country are safe and the military strikes have had negligible impact on their work, the Burmese embassy in Tel-Aviv, the Israeli capital said.

An official at the Burmese Embassy in Tel-Aviv told Mizzima that Burmese people living in Israel were in fine condition and were not affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

"It is a little far from the war zone, here in the big cities there has been no adverse impact. The events are only in the Gaza strip, which is far from where most of our people live," the Burmese Embassy official said.

He added that the Embassy was well connected and well informed about the situation of the Burmese people. "All are in normal condition," he added.

According to the official, there are around 50 Burmese people, those who are undergoing training in the field of agriculture in northern Israel, while about another 20 were working in the cities.

Israel is one among the many countries, where Burmese migrants seek employment. But, with no statistical records available, it is unclear of the exact number of Burmese people working illegally in that country.

So far nearly 600 Palestinians, including at least 100 women and children, have been killed in Gaza since Israeli began the campaign on December 27, reports citing Palestinian medical sources said. Seven Israeli soldiers and three civilians have been killed.
