Burmese Army hospital staff members in Rangoon Division will be transferred to Shan State in eastern Burma after three military hospitals are sold, according to a source close to the hospital.

The staff from the three military hospitals would have to work in Aungban (Aungpan) Township, Shan State about 435 kilometres from the former capital Rangoon, the source said.

Of the three sold hospitals, two hospitals are 500-bed including the Military Bone treatment Hospital, and one is a 1,000-bed hospital in Mingaladon Township, the source said.

According to military sources, the 1,000-bed hospital is three storied and is housed in a good building. The other two hospitals are average.

Most staff members do not want to move to Aungban Township because it is far and they will be separated from their family members. Some staff members want to retire from their jobs because they are being transferred to Aungban Township over 86 miles from the new capital Naypyidaw.

The source said experienced military doctors have already been ordered to serve in Naypyidaw after top military officers moved to Kyatpyae, Pyinmana.

The hospitals could be sold to China along with the Pyidaungsu Yeiktha army buildings in Dagon Township.

Military officers who were in Pyidaungsu Yeiktha were relocated to Parami apartment North Okkalarpa Township on the second week of this month.

U Htay Aung from Network for Democracy and Development (NDD) said they had heard the SPDC has floated tenders.

There were also rumuors that the Burmese military regime is also planning to sell the Prime Minister's building, some parts of the Rangoon sea-port, and the building housing the former Military Intelligence Department.
