The signboard of Mon Queen Shin Saw Pu Buddha image was moved further inside after the Nargis Cyclone hit a part of Shwedagon Pagoda.
 
Currently authorities are repairing the Queen's Buddha image after the cyclone damaged the building.
 
The new signboard was moved behind the image, but the signboard was put in front of the building. Because of the change in place many Mon nationalists are unhappy with the Burmese military government's policy on assimilation of ethnic culture.
 
"We are lucky to see the signboard is there. They wouldn't dare to remove it altogether because the image is famous and it is three of nine wonderful images," a Mon resident in Rangoon told IMNA.
 
In Burma 's history, Shin Saw Pu was the only women queen who ruled the Pegu (Bago) kingdoms peacefully and she extended the Shwedagon Pagoda.
 
According to Mon history the queen regularly visited the pagoda from her palace in Pegu. The pagoda is amazing and is crowded with worshipers.
 
The buildings Mon stone scripture was also destroyed by Cyclone Nargis and the pagoda authorities are repairing it.
 
Residents in Rangoon believe that the military government is going to change the name of Kyaik Hmaw Wun to Shwe Hmaw Wun to take out the Mon name Kyaik. A Mon researcher said the military regiment can give a new name, but cannot change history.
