New Delhi - Burma's detained pro-democracy leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on Sunday was allowed another meeting with her lawyer, Kyi Win, her party spokesperson said.

"Daw Suu and U Kyi Win met on Sunday. They started the meeting at 10 a.m. and it concluded at about 3 p.m." Nyan Win told Mizzima on Monday.

Nyan Win said the discussions between Aung San Suu Kyi and Kyi Win most likely focussed on the pro-democracy leader's continued detention.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has been detained for more than 12 of the past 19 years and has not been allowed any meetings with outsiders since 2004 until August 2008, where she was allow a meeting with Kyi Win for the first time.

Nyan Win said, the meeting was 'significant', as it provided a chance for the Nobel Peace Laureate to discuss with her lawyer how to start a legal campaign on her continued detention.

He added that the NLD has also submitted a legal petition to the Burmese military government's cabinet but has received no reply as yet.

"We have sent a legal petition to the cabinet and we are waiting for a reply," said Nyan Win.

Daw Augn San Suu Kyi was also allowed a rare visit by her family doctor, Tin Myo Win, in February.

While it was unclear whether the rare visits by Kyi Win and Tin Myo Win meant a relaxation by the government on Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Nyan Win said, it is definitely a positive sign.
