The Chin State Government has allowed two Chin newspapers, the Hakha Post and the Tedim Post to resume publishing after they were banned for not having a publishing permit from the Ministry of Information.
Pu Lalawmpuia, Editor of Hakha Post said: “We have got permission to publish our newspaper, but are yet to get the official letter from the concerned authority. We will start publishing immediately.”
The weekly Tedim Newspaper was also given permission to resume publishing on 3rd December. The editor, Pu Thang Van Lian, said that the newspaper was published on 6th December.
“I am very pleased that we have been allowed to publish again,” he said.
The state government banned the Hakha Post and the Tedim Post from publishing because they did not have publishing permits on 29th September and 16th October respectively.
Zolengthe and Falam Post, two other newspapers also banned by the state government for not having a publishing permit, remain banned.
The state government has been criticised for banning publications that did not have an official publishing permit.
