The People’s Voice Forum for Karenni State, which will collect information about the obstacles and hardships faced by Karenni people, will be held from 19th November till 21st November.
The forum will be organised and led by a joint committee made up of representatives from youth organisations and civil society groups.
U Be Htoo a member of the forum organising committee said: “This is our attempt to collect the voices of the people. It will be open to anyone from the state and we will invite civil society organisations, members of state government and members of parliament.”
He explained that the People’s Voice Forum had three main agendas to discuss: human rights issues, peace issues and development issues.
Solutions should be found to help solve the problems and obstacles faced every day by people in the state according to Maj. Saw Lwin, the joint secretary of the Kayan New Land Party.
He said: “After we have heard the voices of the people I urge that we find ways at this forum to join up with them to implement what they want.”
The conclusions reached at the forum will be proposed and discussed at the forthcoming 2015 Myanmar People’s Forum where representatives from People’s Forums held across the country will meet and hold discussions.
People’s Forums have already been held in other regions and states in Burma.
