The Arakan National Party (ANP) has received doctrines from reputed monks, senior Arakanese political leaders and well-wishers recently in an auspicious occasion. The meeting, held at Dhama hall of southern Lamadaw quarter in Sittwe of Arakan State on October 10, saw ANP leaders led by President Dr Aye Maung receive the set of guidelines.
Besides the ANP leaders, many local lawmakers, respected monks and senior nationals were present on the occasion.
“We feel fortunate to receive messages of goodwill from the senior Arakanese political leaders and respected monks on this occasion, where hundred of others were also present. It will be a memorable day for the Arakanese people,” said Dr Aye Maung.
The suggestions and advice included advice to the leaders to maintain love, kindness and patience to everyone, sympathy for people in distress and commitment to the nation were also highlighted.
“While working with national affairs, we should not let our egos to intervene. We have to remind ourselves about the endless work in front of us. The leadership should take others into their confidence for a noble cause,” said monk Abaya Rakkhita.
The ANP emerged as a combined political party following the merger of the Rakhine National Development Party and the Arakan League for Democracy. They work for the cause of Arakanese people living inside and outside Burma.
U Khaing Soe, while participating in the meeting asserted that the ANP resulted from a merger between splinter groups belonged to Arakan League for Democracy and other pro-Arakanese political leaders.
The monks and senior political leaders also advised the ANP leadership to prepare for the 2015 Burma general election with efficient candidates. They also asked the ANP leaders to give suitable responsibilities to U Aye Tha Aung, U Oo Hla Saw and U Khaing Pray Soe, who have played important roles in helping ordinary Arakanese people.
U Wae Sein Aung, a senior Arakanese political leader said: “We have to join hands with other ethnic groups too to achieve a genuine federal democratic system in our country. Moreover, we have to support the National League for Democracy for improving the democratic norms,”
ANP’s vice president U Pho Min appealed to the people to understand the party’s points of view.
ANP leaders led by President Dr Aye Maung offered donations to the participating monks and honoured the Arakanese political leaders in the meeting that ended by 6 pm. They also promised that the ANP would soon organise the CEC meeting, which is due to take place after the Thandway convention.
