Myanmar soldiers and Thai anti-narcotics agents arrested the suspects and seized 232 kilogrammes of heroin they were allegedly transporting in a truck at a checkpoint in Myanmar across from Chiang Rai's Mae Fa Luang district, according to the Thai newspaper.

The heroin was concealed in 665 packs in secret compartments in the bed of the truck carrying powdered cement bags.

The heroin reportedly has a street value of US$2.3 million in Myanmar and could be worth 10 times as much in Thailand.

Myanmar's military and Thailand's Office of the Narcotics Control Board have been conducting joint operations against drug trafficking across the border, according to the newspaper.
