Mizo Student Union (MSU) a civil society group working for unity among tribes in the area announced the Chinlung Chhuak Zofa festival will be held in Myanmar Chin state capital Hakha.
The decision came at a recent meeting in Mizorum capital Aizawl in India.
MSU president, Zodinpuia said that Chin, Kuki and Mizo (Lushai) tribes were separated during British colonial rule. Now they live in India, Bangladesh and Myanmar, but are still one tribe. It’s important for Chin, Kuki and Mizo to understand their blood relations. They ought to forge friendships and build unity across their borders, Zodinpuia said. The group’s motto is: “There is a boundary in a country, but no boundary in a tribe”.
A working committee made up representatives from Chin and Mizoram states will be tasked with promoting the festival to Chin (Zo) tribes in India and Bangladesh.
