More police stations along the western Burma border are on the card, as the government has planned to set up four additional police stations in these localities.

The police stations should come up next month to maintain law & order situation effectively, said  the Arakan police.

“We would increase four more police stations in Maungdaw township to uphold the sense of security in the border areas,” informed the Mauangdaw district police chief U Shwe Than.

He also added that each police station is supposed to have 45 constables equipped with modern arms accordance with the police force guidelines.

Among the four proposed police stations, there are scheduled for Indin, Alay Than Kyaw and Thaye kongbon in southern part of Maungdaw and the other one would be at Kyi Kyan Byin in the north of Maungdaw township.

It may be mentioned that Du Sheyaer Dan village that is located in the southern part of Maungdaw town, which witnessed the violence recently, would also be covered by the new police stations.

A group of  high police officials, led by the police superintendent Tin Ko Ko, had visited the areas on Monday to study the feasibility of the projects in those localities.
