Lower House MP Dr. Sai Kyaw Ohn from Namkham constituency has been appointed as Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism by President Thein Sein.

Dr. Sai Kyaw Ohn, who belongs to the Shan Nationalities Democratic Party (SNDP) popularly known as the White Tiger party, was appointed along with another deputy minister, one Naypyitaw Council member and two presidential advisors.

The presidential order for the four appointments was issued on September 9.

Naypyitaw Council member Tin Ngwe was appointed as Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Livestock, Fishery and Rural Development and Finance and Revenue Minister Phone Zaw Han from Mandalay Region government have been appointed to U Tin Ngwe's former position as council member.

A presidential political advisor and a presidential legal advisor were appointed on the same day by the President, besides appointing and reshuffling deputy ministers and Naypyitaw council members.

President Thein Sein's tenure has seen many resignations, transfers and reshuffling of cabinet members in various ministries; ministers in only nine ministries have remained unchanged.

Upper House MP Aung Kyi Nyunt from NLD party said, “I think they are trying to change team members as they were unsuccessful in implementing new policies with old players. Just changing players will not be enough. Their mindset must be changed too.”
