According to Kayah state court transcripts,Maung Kye Zin Maung, 21, also known as Kyaw Myo Thu, from No.14 Military Training School in Pruso townshippulled the11-year oldinto the woods and raped her while on the way to a study session on Jan. 24.

The parents of the victim said the incident will have longstanding effects on her wellbeing."Now, she is afraid and shy to go to school with friends. She is also suffering mentally. She doesn't want to hang out in public areas,” said the victim’s father.

The father said this wouldn’t have happened if the military training school was not opened in the area, and plans to push for financialcompensation for the emotional suffering it has caused his daughter.

"We will charge the violator himself and (all other) responsible persons for compensation for the victim," said the victim’s lawyer, U Aung Shain.
