The Chin National Front (CNF) celebrated the 25th Revolution Day yesterday at the new Victoria headquarters in Chin state, Burma.
The anniversary honors the Chin ethnic group struggle for self-determination for federalism and democracy. It also celebrates the formation of the CNF on March 20, 1988.
CNF leaders and supporters, both national and international, took part in the day’s festivities.
A press release that was released for the important day recanted the various obstacles the people in Chin state have faced. These included the days of British colonialism, and the lengthy military dictatorship that followed. The dictatorship denied the enactment of federalism for the various ethnic groups in Burma when the Panglong Agreement failed to come into effect.
The release also pointed out that the revolution will continue until self-determination and freedom is restored in Chin state. It stated the CNF will continue to work to build unity with the other ethnic armed groups in Burma that are also advocating for more political dialogue leading to federalism for Burma.
