Baby killed, 10 injured in Jeep accident in Mizoram

A one-month old baby girl was killed and 10 other passengers were seriously injured recently after the brakes of the jeep they were travelling in failed near the Indo-Burma in Saiha District of Mizoram state in India. The baby’s relative said that those who were injured, including the driver, were unconscious when they were rushed to hospital in Saiha.

Most of the passengers were identified as being from Sabawngte, Sabawngpi and Mala villages in Matupi Township and Pintia village in Paletwa Township, Chin state, Burma.

Some of the passengers have been identified as U Maung Cin and daughter from Sabawngpi, the daughter of Pastor Hi Cai from Sabawngte and pastor’s granddaughter, a couple from Mala village and a women from Pintia.

Eight passengers of another bus were also injured in a different accident on the same day.
