Salai Lalropekhlu (Pete) from Letpanchaung village and Salai Mama played in the Sagaing Division High School Football team. Both are students of Letpanc High School. Fourteen teams from all over the country participated in the football championship that was organised by the Naypyidaw Education Ministry.

“In the finals, we played against the Karen state team and won by (the score of ) 3-2 goals,” said Salai Lalropekhlu.

The champions received medals and 9 lakhs Kyat were divided amongst the team. Each player got 45,000 Kyat each. In addition, Sagaing Region and Kaley District authorities awarded 40,000 Kyat to each of the players.

A relative of one of the Chin players was very happy but also encouraged the students to keep up with their studies in school.
