The Chin National Front (CNF) have re-established their headquarters in Than Tlang Township, Chin state, following agreements that were reached during union-level peace negotiations with the central government. The new headquarters has been named Camp Victoria - the same as the one it replaced in India, but was closed in 2005 after pressure by the Indian government.
The opening of the camp comes on the heels of several new liaison offices in Teddim,Than Tlang and Matupi Town.
On March 20, 1988, the CNF formed to fight for the rights of the Chin ethnic group. Initially, the army was trained in the Pajau - the former headquarters of the Kachin Independent Army (KIA). Eventually, the CNF established itself along the Indian-Burma border.
