Several Burma army soldiers have been captured by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) following heavy fighting that broke out at Lajayang, last Friday. The 7 government soldiers were taken to the Laiza headquarters, about 5 miles away, KIA senior officers told the Kachin News Group.

KIA soldiers discovered the bodies of at least 15 government soldiers after the fighting ended on Nov.14, according to a KIA major who spoke on condition of anonymity. But it’s estimated that more than 50 government troops were killed. However the exact figures will probably never be known as the government doesn’t release its causality figures.

Fighting at Lajayang began early Friday morning, after the KIA successfully blocked government forces from re-supplying their nearby Lung Rawk post. The heavy resistance brought against the government forces by the Kachin resistance fighters forced them to abandon their mission.
